Delegates are an important part of the discernment process
As Ohio Conference works through its second year of the discernment process, delegates from congregations have an important role in the discernment. Ideally, each congregation’s delegates should be individuals who are able to participate in the entire discernment process, including the fall delegate meetings, winter delegate meetings, and Annual Conference Assembly on March 1-2, 2024. Dates for the fall and winter delegate cluster meetings are listed in this issue of Delegate News.
Five fall delegate meetings scheduled
Five fall delegate cluster meetings have been scheduled for Ohio Conference delegates to Annual Conference Assembly. Each meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately two hours.
Locations are as follows:
- Sept. 19 — Oak Grove Mennonite Church, West Liberty
- Sept. 21 — Lee Heights Community Church, Cleveland
- Sept. 26 — Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold
- Sept. 28 — Wooster Mennonite Church
- Oct. 2 — Online meeting via Zoom

Dates set for winter delegate meetings
Dates for the winter delegate cluster meetings have been set: Jan. 9, Jan. 11, Jan. 16, Jan. 18, and Jan. 22. At least one of these meetings will be online over Zoom. Locations for the meetings have yet to be determined.
Sharon Mennonite to host 2024 ACA
Sharon Mennonite Church in Plain City will host the 2024 Annual Conference Assembly (ACA) on March 1-2, 2024. ACA will begin in the morning on Friday, March 1, and end in the late afternoon on Saturday, March 2. Please note that this schedule is somewhat different than has been common in recent years, when ACA has often begun after noon on a Friday.

As a delegate from your congregation, you serve as a liaison to Ohio Conference, sharing your congregation’s perspectives, as well as keeping the congregation informed about the ministry and mission of the Conference. Please see the delegate checklist, which lists expectations for delegates.

Dick Barrett to retire Oct. 13
Conference Minister Dick Barrett has announced plans to retire this fall. Dick will officially retire from his Conference Minister role and all ministerial duties on Oct. 13, 2023. A letter from the Ohio Conference Leadership Team regarding Dick’s retirement is included with this issue of Delegate News.
