This month I would like to highlight free worship resources, both for corporate worship and for worship at home.
Together in Worship
Are you looking for Anabaptist worship resources? Together in Worship (togetherinworship.net) is a new website containing a wide variety of free worship resources. A partnership with CommonWord, Together in Worship is a collection of free Anabaptist digital worship materials. More than 1,500 resources are available so far.
Resource categories include words for worship, music, video, visual art, and teaching. Together in Worship is also a platform for individuals and communities to create and contribute resources. Submissions are welcome. See https://togetherinworship.net/Content/tiw-submissions for details.
Advent at Home
MC USA’s 2020 Advent at Home devotional, “We Wait for Jesus,” is now available for free download. The annual guide for home-based worship provides daily and weekly scripture readings, prayers and activities for individuals and families observing the season of anticipation leading to the birth of Jesus.
“We Wait for Jesus” focuses on the traditional Advent themes of hope, peace, joy and love. The devotional provides resources for seven weeks, beginning with the first Sunday of Advent through Epiphany (Nov. 29, 2020-Jan. 6, 2021). The guide leads worshippers through the biblical account of Jesus’ birth, from the words of the prophets to the arrival of the Magi.
According to Shana Peachey Boshart, MC USA denominational minister for Faith Formation, the 2020 Advent at Home devotional is designed to be easy to use and accessible to people of all ages. A flexible menu of activities allows worshippers to choose those that are best suited for their household.
This year’s devotional was written by Talashia Keim Yoder, pastor of Christian Formation at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana. To download this resource, go to http://bit.ly/2020AdventatHome.
