Save the date: Mennonite Church USA (MC USA) is planning a second webinar on the theme “Race, Church and Change.” This webinar is scheduled for July 23 at 6:30 p.m. EDT on both Zoom and Facebook Live. To register for this webinar, please go to https://bit.ly/RaceChurchandChange2.

The first “Race, Church and Change” webinar took place on Thursday, June 25, and featured a discussion about the impact of racism on the church and meaningful approaches for dismantling racism. Panelists included Glen Guyton, Felipe Hinojosa, Sue Park-Hur, Erica Littlewolf and Tobin Miller Shearer. Iris de León-Hartshorn served as moderator, and viewers were encouraged to submit questions for the panel. Even before the webinar concluded, viewers were asking for a follow-up discussion. If you missed the first webinar, you can watch a recording at http://mennoniteusa.org/leadership-development/webinars.

“Race, Church, and Change, Part 2” will feature the same panelists. They will be discussing a number of follow-up questions, such as the following:

  • What roles do racial healing and reconciliation play in being anti-racist?
  • How do we begin a conversation about white supremacy?

What would it look like for MC USA congregations to practice racial reparations?
