Flat Menno spent time at Sonnenberg Mennonite Church in Kidron during December and January, participating in Advent activities and experiencing one of the congregation’s mid-week 4F (Food-Faith-Family-Fellowship) Nights.

Flat Menno shares snacks with Gordon Amstutz and Phil Raber during
Alternative Christmas — a time during Advent when Sonnenberg gathers in the
church lobby to enjoy snacks and coffee while perusing the World Crafts and MCC
tables. These tables have information about alternative gift giving as well as
some fair trade goodies for sale.

Flat Menno checks out the World Crafts table, where he can purchase fair
trade items as Christmas gifts, while listening to the beautiful music during
Alternative Christmas. Pictured from left to right are Alexandra Raber, Katelyn
Amstutz, Anna Ressler, Martha Coleman, Gabriel Raber and Emilie Raber.

Flat Menno assists pastor Mel Hathaway in preaching the Advent theme:
Flood of Mercy — Fire and Water.

During Sonnenberg’s first 4F Night (Food-Faith-Family-Fellowship) of the
year, Flat Menno tries to guess how many 1.5″ x 1.5″ fabric squares
were sewn into this postage stamp quilt by Lorene Amstutz.

Flat Menno helps Pastor Mel serve dinner during 4F Night.

Flat Menno thinks the cupcakes for dessert look pretty good too!

Flat Menno listens in on Talent Night, one of Sonnenberg’s
intergenerational 4F activities.

After the show, Flat Menno and some of the Junior High girls check out
some chocolate made by Maynard Thomas. Pictured from left to right are Rebekah Amstutz,
Emma Zuercher and Sarah Ressler.
