Ohio Conference Constituents,

We are prayerfully preparing for our annual time of worshipful work, centered around the theme, “From Jerusalem to Antioch: Legacy Churches Anchoring Missional Communities,” based on Acts 11:19-30. We hope you will plan to join us March 8-9, 2019, at Salem Mennonite Church, Kidron, Ohio, for our 50th Ohio Annual Conference Assembly.

We are designating this year as a year of celebration! We are celebrating 50 years of service as the Ohio Conference, the hiring of a new conference minister, and the introduction of a new executive director of Mennonite Church USA. Our hope is to hold business to a minimum, taking time to look back at our 50 years of existence, learn to know our new leaders, and celebrate this jubilee year together.

Immediately prior to ACA, Ohio Conference will again hold a missional conference, also at Salem Mennonite. The worship sessions for ACA will feature a continuation of the missional conference with speakers Sally Schreiner Youngquist and Steve North. We trust you will be blessed by this special addition to our weekend.

We hope that you will be encouraged in your faith through our worshipful work in delegate sessions, dynamic worship times, and connecting with others from across the Conference. We also invite you to bless others during Friday night’s worship where we will be collecting an offering. The money given will be shared between our Congolese brothers and sisters that will be attending ACA and MCC’s SWAP (Sharing with Appalachian People) program. So make your plans to attend the entire Assembly and missional conference as we unite to learn, worship and celebrate together for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom here in our corner of the world.

Please register early. It helps us, and you are more likely to be able to attend the workshop of your choice. Plan also to attend the Mennonite Women or Mennonite Men breakfasts on Saturday morning, even if you are not active in the organization.

This year we will be collecting items for the Wayne College Food Bank.
Low income students and staff receive food bags from the Wooster Hope Center, but toiletries are needed as well. Please review the list of suggested items. There will be a collection box for these items in the registration area.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate God’s Kingdom work and that you will be part of discerning the ongoing mission and ministry we do together.

Faithfully,

Bob Sauder, moderator
